VSIA Transfers IP Encryption Work to IEEE

The IEEE has initiated a new project on IP encryption, called IEEE-P1735 based on work transferred to it from the Virtual Socket Interface Alliance (VSIA). The goal of the new working group is to produce guidelines and recommended practices for use of IP protection markup syntax and key management to enable inter-operable tool flows with IP and tools from a wide array of suppliers.

Verilog and VHDL have encryption mechanisms that were added to the last version of the standards. However, there was no specification on how to handle IP protection and rights management of arbitrary text files. P1735 will address this. The IEEE Design Automation Standards Committee will manage this project. As the project takes form, you will be able to find project specific information here.
