Instructions for obtaining the latest ModelSim PE release:

Mentor Graphics has changed the format of the license file to take advantage of more current 
encryption  technology offered in FLEXnet 10.8. All new and renewal licenses created after 
October 23, 2006 will have this new format and will require FLEXnet v10.8 license manager 
software to run a license server.  For this reason, the FLEXnet v10.8 licensing software is 
included in this release with Mentor Graphics Licensing MGLS v2007.2 and PCLS 2007.123.  
If you receive a floating license created after October 23, 2006 you will need to upgrade 
your license server software. For floating licenses it will be necessary to verify that the 
vendor daemon (i.e., mgcld) and the license manager (i.e., lmgrd) have FLEXnet versions equal 
to or greater than 10.8.  If the current FLEXlm/FLEXnet version of your vendor daemon and 
lmgrd are less than 10.8 then it will be necessary to stop your license server and restart 
it using the vendor daemon and license manager contained in this release.

If you use nodelocked licenses, this information does not apply.

Click on the link to download a PE release from FTP. After filling out
a user registration and accepting the license agreement, you are given 
instructions on how to download the latest ModelSim PE release.

If you want to download a release other than the latest, visit
http://www.model.com/downloads/archives.asp

Never overlay a new ModelSim release over the top of an old
release. Either remove the old release first or install the new
release to a different location. Always use uninstall to remove an
old release. Using uninstall will remove the the old releases' 
registry entry.

Each release will be under a directory named after its version
number.

modelsim-gcc-3.3.1-mingw32.zip SystemC gcc 3.3.1 for Windows XP.
modelsim-gcc-4.2.1-mingw32.zip SystemC gcc 4.2.1 for Windows XP and Vista.

The first file is a self-extracting archive that starts the 
installation program to install ModelSim.

   ADDITIONAL SYSTEMC INSTALLATION:
   copy modelsim-gcc-3.3.1-mingw32.zip or modelsim-gcc-4.2.1-mingw32.zip 
   into the <install_path modeltech> folder. Open up the zip file
   modelsim-gcc-3.3.1-mingw32.zip or modelsim-gcc-4.2.1-mingw32.zip and 
   extract the contents into this <install_path modeltech> folder.
 
Notice of new versions of ModelSim are posted on our website as
they are released. Notice is also available by email to registered 
customers with current maintenance.
